This graphic
novel spotlights the story of Aphrodite as she is born from Eros and is quickly
adopted by Zeus and married off. She has many adventures, including bringing a
statue to life, having a son (cupid), and battling it out for most beautiful
against her fellow goddess’s.
I love this
series. It really brings the ancient mythology to life. The traditional stories
can be a bit confounding and bizarre and this format is the perfect venue for
bringing them to life with clarity and a fresh perspective. The author/illustrator
does a fantastic job with the artwork, its top notch. His artwork and
presentation is beyond fantastic. On a selfish note, I wish it was just a bit less
sexy so I could buy the whole series for my elementary school library!
