Hodgkinson, Leigh, Troll Swap. pgs. 29. Nosy Crow,
2013. $15.99. PICTURE BOOK.
Timothy Limpet is a troll who’s not messy, loud, or untidy.
Tabitha Lumpit is a nose-picking, puddle-jumping, loud, messy little girl. Both
are misunderstood and want to be able to act like who they are. When the two
bump into each other, they decide to switch places. Will Tabitha decide to stay
with the trolls? Will Timothy decide to stay with the humans?
The illustrations are cute and colorful, but still
complement the text. The words spelled out would be helpful for early literacy
skill teaching and practice. Although the book has cute enough premise, the
story still leaves something to be desired. Nevertheless, young children who
like monsters will enjoy having this book read to them. PreK, EL (K-3).
OPTIONAL. Reviewer: Kira M, Youth Services Librarian, WHI Public Library.
