Pip and Posy: The Snowy Day by Alex Scheffler- OPTIONAL
Scheffler, Axel Pip and Posey The Snowy Day. PICTURE BOOK. Candlewick Press, 2013.
$12.99. Pip and Posey are friends who
love to play together. Today they are
going to play in the snow. After getting
dressed in their sweaters, socks, puffy coats, waterproof boots and cozy
scarves and mittens, they are ready for a fun filled day. They left footprints where they walked,
caught snowflakes on their tongues, and made snow angels. Unfortunately the fun ends there because they
simply cannot agree on what type of snow animal they should make. Posy wants to build a snowmouse. Pip wants to build a snowrabbit. As they
argue and fight, and even get a little physical the story turns on a sour
note. Will Pip and Posy ever agree? What effect will this fight have on their
friendship? How will they resolve their
differences? This is a good story about friendship and forgiveness. The illustrations are very detailed and
capture every emotion exhibited by these two friends. The book could be used in a unit on friendship
and conflict resolution. Pre-K. El (K-3).
