What a Way to Start a New Year-Jacqueline Jules-OPTIONAL

Jules, Jacqueline. Ill. By Judy Stead. What a Way to Start a New Year. Pgs. 30. Kar-Ben Publishing, 2013. $7.95. PICTURE BOOK.

When a family has to move before Rosh Hashanah, they decide to go back to their friends in their old neighborhood to celebrate. Problems arise, however, and their New Year gets off to a rough start. Will they find a way to start the New Year back on track?

A funny, cute story that could work well for Jewish and non-Jewish New Year. The text is long, but keeps the reader laughing. The illustrations are busy, but colorful. A good read aloud for older preschoolers and younger school-age children. PreK, EL(K-3). OPTIONAL. Reviewer: Kira M, Youth Services Librarian, WHI Public Library
