Drummond, Ree Charlie
the Ranch Dog: Where’s the Bacon?
Illustrated by Diane deGroat Harper, 2013. $16.99
EARLY READER Content: G.
Charlie is a ranch dog and his day is
constantly interrupted by Rowdy, a dog that is visiting their ranch. Rowdy eats Charlie’s bacon, sleeps in his bed
and gets rubs from his owner. Finally
Charlie has had enough and he gets mad at Rowdy. Rowdy runs out to the doghouse and
whimpers. Charlie feels bad, so he
shares his bone with him.
This is a fun
story about two dogs and how sharing isn’t always easy, but it’s important to
be nice to others. The illustrations are
realistic and attractive and the text is only 2-3 simple sentences per
page.
