Jenkins, Steve The
Animal Book, 205 pgs. Houghton Mifflin,
2013. $21.99 Content: G.
This book briefly touches on different facts about animals. It covers what an animal is and the different
species. It talks about how animals
attract mates and reproduce. It touches
on the different senses that animals have that help them. It talks about predators and animals
defenses. It covers the extremes found
within the animal kingdom, size or deadliest.
And it summarizes the story of life on earth for the animal kingdom.
Although this book only has about a paragraph
every page spread it has facts that are fascinating and to the point without
too much extra detail. There are added
captions under some of the illustrations.
The illustrations are my favorite part because I love Steve Jenkins’ art
work. At the very back of the book there
are a few page where the author explains how he researches and writes his
book.
