Adkins, Jan What if
You Met a Cowboy?, 45 pgs. Roaring Book
Press, 2013. $17.99 Content: G.
This is an informational book about cowboys. There are illustrations of saddles, cowboys
and guns that are labeled as to what the proper name is and what they are for. The different types of cowboys are explained
and some of the history behind where cowboys come from. There’s a diagram of the different positions
while moving cattle as well as how hard and uncomfortable their lifestyle can
be.
There is a lot of information in
this book that is interesting, but the illustrations are not super
engaging. If kids would pick this book
up I think they would find the stories and facts interesting, but I’m not sure
they would pick it up because of the bland colors.
