Day, Susie My Invisible Boyfriend 288 pgs. Scholastic Press, 2010. Violence-G; Sexual Content-PG-13; Language-PG-13 (20+ G, 15+ others, no F) $16.99. A new student at an alternative high school, Heidi wants so badly to just fit in...and it seems the only way to do it is to create a fake boyfriend, fake internet profile and all. Soon enough, her "boyfriend" has become involved in all her friends' dramas, while she is left out in the cold. And to make matters worse, a REAL boy, without disclosing his identity, reveals his love for her through email. Who knew that having a fake boyfriend could cause so many real problems?? This book was poorly written. From page one it was so confusing and jumped all over the place. There were too many unusual names and nicknames for the characters to even keep straight. The way the main character even thinks was very hard to keep up with. Half the book she was having an imaginary conversation with an imaginary character from an off-the-air TV series. Because of the language and content, it would be more appropriate for high school. Not impressed, wouldn't recommend. MS/HS-NO. Whitney, Library-Teacher.
