Mustache Baby Meets His Match by Bridget Heos - ESSENTIAL

Heos, Bridget Mustache Baby Meets His Match, illustrated by Joy Ang. BOARD BOOK. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2015. $8. 9781328866530.

Mustache Baby usually has a "Good Guy" mustache, and his friend, Javier, usually has a "Good Guy" beard. But when Mustache Baby runs into problems making Javier his sidekick--Javier is his equal or better in so many ways!--he gets upset and his "Bad Guy" mustache shows up right on time with Javier's "Bad Guy" beard. Mom steps in to help the boys understand that its natural to be competitive, but its most important to be the first one to say, "I'm sorry."

I am a huge fan of the original Mustache Baby book and this is a really fabulous sequel. The illustrations and the text together are hilarious, but the message is still a really good one for kids. This is the kind of book I'll be gifting to many new parents--its great to have a fun read-aloud the parent can enjoy too!
