Bunting, Eve. Yard Sale, PICTURE BOOK. Candlewick Press, 2015. $15.99. Callie and her family are moving into an apartment. Because it is much smaller than their house, they have to sell almost everything they own. Callie is sad to see all of her family’s things go and she is worried about moving to a new place to live without her friends nearby. She helps sell some items and gets confused and upset about some others (who want to sell their bike?). After everything is gone, she and her family know what’s really important: family. This book will have a somewhat limited audience with those children who have lived through challenging financial times with their families. It will be a good introduction for those who don’t have the experience but need to understand how to sympathize with some of their peers. I enjoyed the pictures in this title more than some of the other books that Lauren Castillo has illustrated, but the story was slow moving for me. A definite purchase if you have a higher concentration of students in financially-strained situations. Content: G. EL (K-3), EL- OPTIONAL. Reviewed by: Shay, School Librarian
