Too Much Good Luck by Ellen Potter -- ADVISABLE

Potter, Ellen Too Much Good Luck (Piper Green and the Fairy Tree #2), illustrated by Qin Leng. Knopf Books for Young Readers (Random House), August 4, 2015. Content: G.

Piper Green's second-grade year isn't off to a very good start, and it only gets worse when a new girl joins their class. Not only is the kid a chatterbox, but she's allergic to bunnies, which means their class pet has to be given away. Piper is determined to scare off the usurper, but her tactics may cause more trouble than she bargained on.

This is the second installment of a sweet new series. The unusual setting (a tiny island off the coast of Maine) is fascinating. Piper is spunky enough to have personality, but not outright bratty, and she shows good character growth. The pictures are adorable and provide a nice accompaniment for the text, and the book works very well as a read-aloud.
