Best friends Lily and Jess love to help out at Lily's family's wild animal hospital. But when they follow a former patient into the forest, they discover a portal to a magical world where animals can talk. All is not well in this world, however; an evil witch is trying to take over the land for herself, and she'll stop at nothing to achieve her goal -- even kidnapping sweet baby bunnies.
This is an adorable early chapter book, with enough magic, adventure, and talking animals to draw in new readers. While my sensitive five-year-old found this one a bit scary, others may enjoy the suspense. All in all, a very nice start to a brand new series.
