Bechtold, Lisze
Buster the Very Shy Dog Finds a Kitten Houghton Mifflin Harcourt,
2015. $3.99 EARLY READER
Content: G.
Buster finds a tiny kitten under the front porch.
Buster feeds the kitten and keeps it warm when it gets cold. Eventually the other pets in the house notice
the little kitten and they don’t like sharing with it. When the human who takes care of all of them
finds the kitten he decides to let it be a part of the family. Buster and his new kitten, Tilly enjoy
playing with the other animals.
Buster
is a sweetheart and the little kitten Tilly is adorable. Their relationship is sincere and shows how
we can help others. There is about fives lines of text per page. My biggest issue
with this book is the illustrations-Buster and Tilly are cute, but everything
else looks sloppy.
