The Story of the X-Men by Thomas Macri-ADVISABLE

Macri, Thomas, The Story of the X-Men. Pgs. 32. Marvel, 2013. $3.99. EARLY READER.

Meet the X-Men. Not only are they different, they’re mutants with powers. Mutants are looked at highly by the regular humans around them, so they attend a special school run by Professor Xavier to learn to control their powers, stop the bad guys, and fit in. There are others who would disagree with the professor, however. Meet Magneto and his gang and why they oppose Xavier as well as the other X-Men.

A fun, easy reader for fans of the X-Men. The text is simple and perfect for emerging readers. The pictures are engaging and make it easy to recognize the different mutants. Young readers or ELL students who enjoy superheroes will like reading this book.

EL, MS. ADVISABLE.
