When summer starts, Chantal and
Jillian start making summer project plans. When the two go to the beach on the
first day, however, the two’s paths get diverted for the summer. Parker,
recently broken up with her girlfriend, decides to make Jillian a challenge for
the summer. Making a deal with Will, his best friend, the two decide to
challenge each other to kiss a girl first. The two girls they pick are Chantal
and Jillian. When Will humiliates her at a party, Chantal decided to get even
through being the Cake Princess, then later returning the humiliation. As
Parker tries to win over Jillian, he begins to realize that he truly likes
Jillian, but the only way they can be together is when he’s helping her with
her younger siblings. Will Parker bag the challenge and continue dating
Jillian? Will Will beat Parker to the punch? Will Chantal and Jillian figure
out what’s going on? Will Chantal get her revenge?
The characters are well-developed
and likable, even Will. The plot is complex and holds the reader’s interest.
Readers who like realistic fiction, summer stories, and books with strong girl
characters will enjoy reading this book. ADVISABLE. MS, HS. Reviewer: Kira M, Youth
Services Librarian, WHI Public Library.
