Verity
and her friends, Martha and Henry, live in the seaside town of Wellow.
When the town is threatened by overpowering white sands created by the broken
hearted Earth Witch, these teens resolve to thwart her and find a way to
overcome her evil. Protecting written stories seems to do the trick until
the Earth Witch’s evil henchman, Povl, brings her back to life, which almost
seems the end of Wellow and the world.
Although the plot of this story may be
common, it is extremely difficult to follow. Welsh created little
understanding of who the demons are in this story. Helpers were generated, but
never materialized for long, even at the end of the book. Many characters came
and went without reason.
