Of Witches and Wind by Shelby Bach - ESSENTIAL

Bach, Shelby Of Witches and Wind (The Ever Afters 2), 386 p. Simon and Shuster, 2013.  $16.

Violence: PG.

Rory is just as excited as all of the other Ever Afters to be able to come after school every day, even though her mom has moved her across the country.  She and all of the seventh graders seem to be taking to fighting trolls, giants and other minions of the Snow Queen with more skill and fervor than any of the other grades.  Two new students have arrived on the Ever Afters doorstep, however and in their wake comes disaster.  Most of the adults and children have been poisoned.  Only a special group of students are allowed to go in this life-threatening quest to find the lost city of  Atlantis and the only possible antidote.  If they don’t succeed, then many lives will be lost.  And Rory has a very protective mother and an alert personal assistant to deal with.  One gigantic lie won’t be too much, will it?

This swash-buckling, nail-biting series is just as good as Harry or Fablehaven or anything else you are currently offer your students.  Come play!
