Soldier Dog by Same Angus - OPTIONAL

Angus, Sam Soldier Dog, 238 pgs. Feiwel and Friends, 2012. Language - PG (9 swears, 0 ""f"), Sexual Content - G; Violence - PG;

Once Stanley has nothing left to keep him home, he enlists to fight for England in WWI. Obviously underage, others try to protect Stanley from the fighting and unknowingly keep him from his goal of finding his brother who is serving in France. Stanley's only hope is to be the best messenger dog trainer there is and, thus, climb the ranks and earn his way to his brother's side.

If I had picked up this book on my own, I would not have made it through two pages. I am not a history buff, so all the information about WWI was dissuading, plus, the story was slow moving. For someone interested in WWI, this would be a great read because of all the details I found boring as well as the story of Stanley's family being torn apart by the war before it can strengthen them.
