McNamee, Eoin The Ring of Five Book #3:
The Ghost Roads 336 pgs.
Wendy Lamb Books, 2012. $11.98. (Rating: PG13)
In this book
there is an upper world and a lower world, and those who know how to travel
between them. Danny is the main character and he is confused about his loyalties
and his growing powers. He is supposed to be a member of the group called The
Ring of Five, but he doesn’t know who to trust. In the meantime Ambrose
Longford is continuing his plan to rule both worlds and Danny is trying to
rescue his adopted mother, Pearl.
This was the 3rd
book in a series, a conclusion –and it is not a stand-alone. You must have read
the other books in the series to understand this one. I still muddled through and beyond the
wall of confusion found a book I really didn’t care for. The plot and even the
character names were over dramatic and theatrical. There was some sexy spy innuendo that made me immediately
cut it from consideration for elementary libraries. I only recommend buying
them if your middle school students have loved the first two books.
