Nogales, Jill. Zebra on the Go, PICTURE BOOK. Peachtree Publishers, 2017. $16.95.
A circus act gets under way and while the zebra is prancing, he accidentally steps on Lion’s toe. Lion is mad and gives chase to Zebra right away. They run through the streets and then off to the pier. Zebra jumps into a boat and Lion comes after him. Unfortunately, Lion’s raft pops a hole and he starts sinking. Zebra saves the day with a life preserver and everyone agrees that the entire escapade was a really good show.
The pictures in this book give readers a good glimpse into what circuses used to look like. It is definitely a more traditional view. The story is good with a unique premise and the rhymes are done very well. There are a lot of good details in the illustrations as well.
