Gen is an American visiting
her grandmother in Alsace, France when war breaks out in 1939. Gen stays to care for her grandmother and is
quickly caught up in the war when she hides one of her friends in their attic. Invading officers steal food and livestock
from her grandmother and one decides to sleep in their home, so Gen has to be
courageous in order to save her friend.
I loved this book. Gen is a great
character who is easy to love and the war setting was interesting. The story line moved quickly and it was an
engaging read.
