There is a city that no longer remembers its name. It is constantly be taken over by new powers and given a new name. Those who have always lived there don’t care anymore, they withstand each takeover by doing nothing. The newest group to take over are the Doa. This story brings together a boy from the Doa and an orphan girl Kai, from the nameless city. The have an uneasy friendship and its about to be put to the test.
This was a fantastic graphic novel! The artwork is wonderful and the story is top notch. I think upper elementary and middle school students would like this book. The concept is very interesting with a placid group of people who weather the takeovers and endure. The unlikely friendship is always a popular theme as well. The author/illustrator does a wonderful job capturing the emotions of the characters and really bringing them to life. I couldn’t put this book down.
