Tanner, Lian Sunker’s Deep, 304 pages. Feiwel and Friends (Macmillan), 2016. Language: G; Mature Content: G; Violence: PG
(prison-like).
Besides the Oyster patrolling the ocean above, there were
also submarines underneath, but now the only one left is the Rampart, with its
little submersible, the Claw. After all
these decades, things go desperately wrong, and crew from both vessels are
captured by the Anti-Machinists and taken to a prison camp, for hard labor and
re-education, or to kill for their crimes of using machinery.
Now Tanner is letting us see what life is like on the land
after all of these decades. Unfortunately,
it still seems to under the grip of the Devouts. Certainly there is plenty of danger to
interest a reader of the first, but I am hoping that number three will be able
to resolve everything.
MS – ADVISABLE.
