It’s the summer between middle school and high school and Ella and Skyler have been best friends forever. Skyler is excited for high school. She’s already made some new friends and is planning to try out for the track team. But Ella hates change and she really worried about going to high school. Ella wants things to stay the same. She’s worried that Skyler will make new friends and that she’ll be all alone, and she’s worried that her mom wants to send her to a private high school. So she makes a BFF Bucket list to complete this summer with Skyler. But when extra friends show up at one thing, and Skyler gets injured (a lot), and Ella make a friend or two of her own, it seems like these best friends might be growing apart.
Part of the Aladdin Mix series, this clean read about the value of old friends and making new ones reads younger than the main characters. Although they are going into 9th grade, their behavior and problems are more applicable to 6th graders going to middle school.
