Hensel and Gretel Ninja Chicks by Corey Rosen Schwartz - ADVISABLE

Schwartz, Corey Rosen Hensel and Gretel Ninja Chicks, illustrated by Dan Santat. PICTUREBOOK. Penguin Random House (G.P. Putnam’s Sons) 2016. $17.99. Language: G; Mature Content: G; Violence: PG (dangerous situations and fighting).

When the fox steals Hensel and Gretel’s mother, their father put the chicks in ninjutsu class where they learn ninja skills.  COming home from class one day, they find their father missing, too, and head out into the woods on a rescue mission.

This parody of Hansel and Gretel is well done and funny.  It’s a nice twist when the chickens attack the fox.  Part of this duo’s action packed fractured fairy tales series (The Three Ninja Pigs, and Ninja Red Riding Hood) this fun story will be appreciated by both boys and girls.
