An After Bedtime Story by Shoham Smith - ADVISABLE

Smith, Shoham An After Bedtime Story, illustrated by Einat Tsarfati and translated from Hebrew by Annette Appel. PICTUREBOOK. Abrams Books for Young Readers, 2014. $16.95.

Nina should be asleep, but she isn’t! She wants to join the party with all of her aunts and uncles.  SHe tastes the desserts, and plays with the dishes and makes a big mess, even waking up her little brother who comes out to join the fun.  In the end, it’s the tired parents who finally fall asleep, while the relatives enjoy playing with the children.

Delightful illustrations tell more of the story than the text.  Nina is adorable and a big troublemaker, I’m sure the dog’s needing to wear an e-collar must have something to do with this precocious child.  A fun read for after bedtime, with lots of cause and effect pictures.
