The Secret of Dreadwillow Carse by Brian Farrey - ADVISABLE

Farrey, Brian The Secret of Dreadwillow Carse, 256 pages.  Atheneum (Simon), 2016.  $17.  Content:  G.

Princess Jeniah has been told all of her life to never enter Dreadwillow Carse.  If any monarch of her country does, then the Monarchy will fall.  For a thousand years, everyone in the Monarchy has been at peace, full of joy.  But when Jeniah meets Aon, a girl of the kingdom who is definitely NOT at peace, the pair hatch a plan to explore the Cars without actually breaking the curse.  What they discover will change both of them and may also change the course of the realm.

A very nice piece of fantasy that I thoroughly enjoyed reading.  Now that Harry Potter doesn’t have such a stranglehold on the psyche of our elementary students, it may be a good time to introduce a stand alone (I hope), well-crafted novel.
