Seventeen year old Lucille finds herself in charge of her sister and their house. She keeps hoping that her mom will return
from her “vacation”, but so far Lucille is on her own and running out of
money. Lucille’s little sister, Wren,
motivates Lucille to not tell anyone and to take care of things because they
don’t want to get separated. Lucille’s
best friends, Eden and Digby, help when they can by watching Wren so Lucille
can get a job. Lucille has a crush on
Digby which complicates her already complicated life.
I fell in love with Lucille. She is strong, hard-working and sacrifices
for what matters. Although she has hard things
happen to her, she doesn’t give up. The
story moves quickly and is written well.
The minor characters are also great and give Lucille faith in humanity,
even when her parents have given up.
This would be an essential read if not for the “F” words.
