Jeremiah loves baseball more than anything else. He used to play catch with his Dad, Walt, all the time, but then, Jeremiah had a heart transplant, and now he has to be very careful; no infections and not too much exertion. He’s not even supposed to run! When Walt gets an out of town town job, he and Jeremiah move to a small town where baseball is king - where a 6 year undefeated High School baseball team has turned the whole town into baseball fans. But when a player dies and the coach is implicated, baseball takes a hit, and Jeremiah has to defend baseball, and start a middle school team himself. Because . . . baseball matters!
This is a fantastic book! Joan Bauer has written another novel that speaks from the heart. A sports books with a lot more than a championship at stake, this amazing novel is a surefire hit with the boys (sports) the girls (a sick kid) and the adults (hope, family, community)
