When Fortuna’s presence is
requested by her neighbors, the Baldwin sister, she discovers that they are
trying to turn a sparrow back into his old self. Trouble is, Martin, the
sparrow, has disappeared. With only five days left to bring him back, they’ve
recruited Fortuna for her ability to still believe in magic. As a daughter of a
bird scientist, Fortuna has the know-how as well. As she sets out on her hunt,
however, she encounters a puzzling boy with birdlike qualities. Could he be
Martin or are there two bird boys? Will she be able to bring him back?
Will the Baldwin sisters be able to turn him back into a sparrow?
Fortuna is a likable, engaging
character. The plot is well developed and has a mystery-like quality to it.
Readers who enjoy magic, Roald Dahl-esque books, mystery, and adventure will
enjoy reading this book.
