Sam joins his mom and fellow scout troupe traveling through the mountains when they take a unused shortcut and have a terrible accident. Trying to travel to a road or home for help, Sam and his friends encounter a very hungry Grizzly Bear. They get some help from an unexpected source but its not quite enough to keep the bear at bay. As they manage to stay one step ahead, they are still completely lost and hungry, will they be able to get help in time to their friends at the crash site.
Again, like the other book I read in this series, incredible fast paced action filled with imminent danger on every page. This one featured an odd inclusion of wolf boy that I found pretty goofy. There was many characters in this short read and I felt like I knew all of them! Students LOVE these survival stories and will enjoy reading this book, as it has a very cinematic feel. Due to the scariness of the violence, I will reserve checkout to 3rd grade and up.
