Oakes, Cory Putnam, Dinosaur Boy.
Pgs. 224. Sourcebooks, Inc.
Over the summer, Sawyer starts
sprouting stegosaurus spikes and a tail. When he goes back to school, not only
are his classmates being bullies, but he finds out there’s a new principal who
wants to get rid of every bully in the school. No questions asked, only
expelled. Sawyer’s relieved, until the bullies start disappearing. What’s
really happening to his classmates? Who or what really is the principal? Can he
save his classmates before it’s too late?
Oakes handles bullying and
discrimination expertly while adding a unique, intriguing plot. The characters
and plot are interesting, engaging, and draw the reader into Sawyer’s world
easily. Fans of Bruce Coville, mystery, and school stories will enjoy reading
this book. EL. OPTIONAL. Reviewer: Jessica M, Library Media Specialist, Olympus
