This book picks up where Taemon has successfully but temporarily
kept the area of Deliverance and its people safe. But the threat from the
Republikite is still very much on his mind, especially since his friends from
there, feeling betrayed by him, are a key part of the military action plan. In
fact Gevri, who leads a powerful team of children with special powers is determined to have revenge. But as the only
one in Deliverance with PSI powers, Taemon knows he can’t defend it all on his
own. Is he the True Son who can save his people?
This series had a great, albeit cold and creepy, dystopian start, which was great for upper elementary! However, its grown increasingly more violent, with this book featuring horrible torture..additionally this book was filled with the drudgery of war. (Tactics, plans, maneuvers, ect). I found myself less attached to the main characters and decided reading this book was a chore. I did manage to scare up some interest in Gevri and his wildcat, a cool partnership, but the end of the book his fate was completely left out! Kind of got a bit cultish for me, I wouldn’t recommend this series.
