Long, Loren Otis and the Scarecrow. PICTURE BOOK. Philomel (Penguin), 2014. $18.
Otis the tractor and the farm animals are unsure what to do about the new addition to the farm - a scarecrow. Try as they might, they can’t seem to connect with the silent, frowning figure. As the last of the harvest is stored away, Otis and the others play one of their favorite games and hope that the scarecrow might feel a little better.
I guess since Otis is really an inanimate object, i shouldn’t be surprised that he might think the scarecrow is also animated. It is a cute book about perseverance and trying to be someone’s friend.
