Polacco, Patricia Mr.
Wayne’s Masterpiece G.P. Putnam’s Sons,
2014. $17.99 PICTURE BOOK Content: G.
This story is about a girl named Patricia who
has troubles speaking up in class. Her
teacher introduces Patricia to the play director to see if the director can
help her speak up. For awhile she does
stage crew and learns every line in the play.
One day, the main character in the play moves. Everyone thought Patricia should be the new
lead. On opening night, Patricia gets to
be the lead and although she is scared she sings and knows every line. She has so much fun.
I liked Patricia Polacco’s
illustrations. The book sucked me in
with what was going on. I like that the
character overcame her fear and she had fun.
