Zettel, Sarah Bad Luck Girl, 357p. Random House, 2014. $1799. Language: G; Mature Content: G; Violence: G.
Callie has rescued her fairy prince father from the fairies, but there is much more to do before they will be safe. Fairies aren’t their only problem. Callie is a child of prophecy and she has also been dubbed the Bad Luck Girl by the Halfers - creatures that are part fairy and part anything else, but not human. War is on its way and Callie and her family will be caught in the crossfire.
Set in Jazz Age Chicago, Callie’s last stage of her story is much better than the Hollywood version. Zettel weaves together different settings of one era of the American History timeline into an American fairy tale. While the story is interesting, it won’t arner as many readers as the Iron King series, unfortunately.
