Hush by Eishes Chayil - ADVISABLE

Chayil, Eishes Hush, 368 pgs. Walker Books, 2010.

Language - G; Sexual Content - PG-13; Violence - G.

"After remembering the cause of her best friend Devory's suicide at age nine, Gittel is determined to raise awareness of sexual abuse in her Borough Park, New York, community, despite the rules of Chassidim that require her to be silent."

This book is based on the real experiences of the author while growing up. It's a powerful story about the dangers of silence when children are assaulted sexually. It's beautifully written and a very powerful story. I thought on this book long after I finished it. Not for the faint of heart.
