Ricky Ricotta’s Mighty Robot (Book #1) by Dav Pilkey –ADVISABLE

Pilkey, Dav and Illustrated by Santat, Dan Ricky Ricotta’s Mighty Robot (Book #1) 112 pgs. Scholastic Inc, 2014 (Revised Edition). $15.99 Content: Language: G (0 swears); Mature Content: G Violence: G.
Ricky is an adorable little mouse who is always getting picked on and he doesn’t have any friends at school. He really wishes something would happen to change that. One day it does, but in a totally unexpected way. The evil Dr. Stinky McNasty sets a robot to destroy the city. What can one little mouse do about that?
Honestly, I was a little prejudiced against this book because of the authors other books, the Captain Underpants series, but this book really has a totally different feel. It reads in between an early reader and a chapter book, just perfect for 1st graders (It does have separate, short chapters). Its stuffed with glossy modern bright awesome illustrations, and contains sections that are graphic novel style, and flip actions, for a fun variety. The story was adorable and students will be excited to read this.
