Win or Lose (The Kicks#3) by Alex Morgan – ESSENTIAL

Morgan, Alex Win or Lose (The Kicks#3) 160 pgs. Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers. $15.99 Content: Language: G (0 swears); Mature Content: G Violence: G.
Devin and the girls of the school soccer team, the Kicks, are having some success in their soccer league. They have really pulled together and everything is going great. That’s when Devin is misquoted in the paper, its angers the eighth graders on the team. Their team dynamic starts to fall apart. To makes things worse, their beloved coach is out temporarily, replaced by the drill sergeant of the boys coach.  Will the team lose the best chance they have to go to state?
I didn’t get to read the second book, and I think it would have been necessary. I am additionally irritated that the books aren't numbered. This book had an interesting perspective on what can happen when rumors and misunderstandings occur. I think student readers will relate to what the main character, Devin is going through. I like that the plot is realistic and positive. Again, the cover is a big draw. Its nice to find some great sports books for girls!
