After the queen dies, the king allows the city to continue building upon dark secrets. Meanwhile, the two princesses work to fill the cracks left by the loss of a leader. Each princess takes a different approach; will it be enough to save their kingdom?

Based on a French folktale, this story is beautifully told through illustrations. The sister princesses grieve differently, and it’s interesting to watch the sisters grow into drastically different leaders. As readers learn about both sisters and watch the tragedy brought about in their lives due to the choices made, they will be inspired by one sister’s strength and ability to balance compassion and justice and be warned by the mistakes of selfishness and indulgence that plague the other sister. The mature content rating is for nudity and sex, and the violence rating is for murder.
