Aria Thibault is a 15 year-old fashion designer
wanna-be. That wouldn’t be such a
difficult goal, if her mother wasn’t Sleeping Beauty who wants to keep her
daughter far from anything sharp, like scissors or sewing needles. Aria attends the Couture Club under the guise
of going to chess club, and gets a chance to compete on a TV reality show. Soon one lie spirals into many as she tries
to keep her sewing involvement from her parents. When something bizarre happens during the
first show however, it would seem that Aria has some big decisions to make
about her future and the curse that seems to haunt her family.
This book is a quick read and plays to retold fairy tale
lovers. While Aria is a strong female character, she seems to have an amazing
knack for sewing intricate clothing for someone who has never had a chance to
practice. The plot was predictable, but
it did bring out that there are other sides to a story. If you’ve ever had to read Shakespeare, the
best part was the Shakespeake curse, which was a lot of fun.
