Black Beauty is a horse that was born on a peaceful farm and then worked as a carriage horse.
He eventually is owned by a careless master who rides him hard and he is
injured. He goes through different
owners and is treated poorly by some and well by others. As he nears the end of his life one of his
grooms from early in his life takes care of him.
This version of Black Beauty is well done and
has great illustrations. The story is
simplified for younger readers and there is 6-7 sentences per page. If you have horse lovers or need a newer
version of Black Beauty this is a great addition.
