The narrator really wants this to be a serious book, but the donkey (and eventually his friends) are demonstrating what NOT to do. Then, instead of it being a serious book, the narrator is trying to stop all the naughty animals.
The pictures are really cute, but the premise (and story) are not. It doesn’t come across as funny as I think it was intended to.
