When the Princess falls in love with the commoner, her
father insists that he prove his bravery by defeating their enemies. While he is gone on his quest, one clever
enemy sneaks in and breaks the princess’s heart. When her warrior returns, he stays by her
side – forever.
Tonatiuh’s illustrations are excellent homages to the
traditional Aztec drawings. The story is
engaging up until the last page – where it falls just a little flat.
