Nate Harlow was born unlucky. No
matter what he does or says, he always ends up on the losing side. On Nate’s 11th
birthday, he gets struck by lightning. His memory’s blurry regarding the
incident, but one thing’s for sure: Nate’s luck has changed. Like King Midas
turn everything into god with his touch, Nate’s touch brings whoever he touches
luck. Will his luck be a good thing or too much of a good thing? Is there
really such a thing as luck?
Nate and the other characters are
well developed and likable. The plot is well done and easily draws the reader
into Nate’s world. Pyron’s writing style is easy to follow and transitions
between scenes smoothly without losing the reader. Fans of Bobbie Pyron,
magical realism, friendship stories, and books taking place in small towns will
enjoy reading this book. EL. ADVISABLE. Reviewer: Kira M, Youth Services
Librarian, WHI Public Library.
