Murphy, Jill The Worst Witch, 87 pgs. Candlewick Press, 2014. (Reprint of 1974 edition.) $5.99. Content: G.
Mildred is the worst witch in the history of her special boarding academy for witches. No matter what she does, it always turns out wrong. Still, things are okay until she turns good-goody Ethel into a pig. Making an enemy of the best witch in your class is not a good idea -- especially when you happen to be the worst one!
This entertaining tale moved quickly, and had many delightful and imaginative details. The Britishisms add a feeling of authenticity and charm to the story, and while things were wrapped up pretty neatly, it was nice to see how the ending came about.
