The four Ninja Meerkats boys, receive a special invitation from
Empress Me to participate in a competition on an mysterious island. To be the
Ultimate Dragon Warrior they will have to beat a pelican, a badger, and sleepy
Sloth. Just when they think things are going well, their nemesis and their
goons show up and they must battle to save the secret of Dragon Island.
It was with a vague sense of dread that I finally sat down to
read this book, and was pleasantly surprised. The characters, the bad guys, and
the plot are totally random and nonsensical, but the writing is so great that
it makes up for it. It sort of felt like I was there, in a bright animated
movie, because the characters and the setting are so well written and vivid. The
dialogue is natural and funny and interesting. The cover has appeal for 2-3
graders and the content is well matched.
