Berry the Fruit Fairy is so excited about getting her new outfit
read for Heart Day. She is so involved in the process that she neglects to make
candy for the party. At the last minute she finds some candy and serves it as
her own. Her friend that eats it has a bad reaction and Berry is busted for her
lie. Now she must journey to the scary Sour Orchard to try to discover a cure.
I will grudgingly admit there is a cute little message here
about hard work and attending to duty before fun. But the candy candy candy
fills me with horror. It so sickly sweet that I can hardly stand to read each page. But
students may enjoy the high level of sugar and happiness. I wouldn't use
library money to buy this series, because after reading them, I don’t even want
to look at them. However, if you avoid reading, and let the students read them
instead, these may be an asset to your library. I think second grade girls would fight over these, especially because they have cover appeal.
