The Great Lollipop Caper by Dan Krall –OPTIONAL

Krall, Dan The Great Lollipop Caper 48 pgs. Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, 2013. $13.24.  Content: Language: G (0 swears);  Mature Content: G ;  Violence: G.
Caper isn't happy just having the love of adults, he wants children to love him too. His big competition? Lollipop –who is adored by children everywhere. Caper comes up with a plan to make caper flavored lollipop’s in order to trick children into liking him. But when things back fire, and Lollipop must come to his rescue.
I usually dig a good odd story, but I am a bit unsure on this one. I like the idea, the message, and the artwork. But I think children will have trouble following the main idea since they probably haven’t heard of Capers the food.  While the moral is relate able –just wanting everyone to like you –I think there are some better book choices to present that subject.
