Schreiber, Joe Perry’s Killer Playlist (Book #2) 224 pgs. Houghton Mifflin Books for Children, 2012. $12.31. Content: Language: PG (0 swears); Mature Content: PG-13 ; Violence: PG-13.
Another sneaky
book that doesn't list that it is the second book in a series. Big pet–peeve of mine.
In this story, teenager Perry has recovered from dealing with Gobi, the assassin
who took him on a whirlwind killing spree in the last book. He and his band are
going on a European tour. He decides to find out if Gobi would hold to their
vague plan of meeting at a bar in Venice. She does, and his day is about to
take a dangerous turn.
This was a fast
paced and fun read. But its stuffed with violence and sexual content (although nothing
explicit). My favorite part is that each chapter starts out by referencing a
song –so that song was running through my head like a movie soundtrack –very cool.
I think teens will love the idea of a sound tracked book and immediately get out their iPods. Might not be
appropriate for your school library.
